2012 Predictions:
- Google TV will make a comeback.
- Google TV will then become just as irrelevant by the end of 2012 as it was at the end of 2011.
- Google will release Android 5.0 with a whole new UI.
- We will all still be using X11 (and not Wayland) by years end.
- Windows Phone 7 sales will be incredibly slow, causing Nokia to come up with a new strategy. There will be much laughter.
- The Raspberry Pi will become available and sell out faster than they can make them.
- Mint will continue to gain popularity… then suddenly drop down significantly (mirroring PCLinuxOS’s rise and fall in user share).
- Intel will start (or join) another new Linux distro (forgetting about Moblin, Meego and Tizen).
- Redhat will make more money and Fedora will continue to lose market-share.
- Canonical will transition away from the desktop. Ubuntu desktop will live on, but receive less love. We will complain much.
- btrfs will become the default FS on popular Linux distros. Fedora will ship with a major btrfs bug that gets Chris or Bryan really worked up. OMG!
- In a defense to Mint’s growth, and to directly appease The Linux Action Show, Ubuntu 12.04 will be GREAT!
- Oracle will start the year strong, but by the end of 2012 will be reduced back to their core strengths.
- The Linux Action Show will read a mirage proposal on air, between two Linux geeks. But email it to angela@jupiterbroadcasting.com SO WE SEE IT!
