– Can inactive boffs join the duty roster? Not at this time, but maybe someday.
– Why no KDF version leaked? Not done yet (uh oh…)

** Civs cannot be placed on active duty, but can be sent on assignments.
– Doffs cannot be promoted or customized – they are what they are.
– Only the lowest quality doffs can die on assignments, the rest go to sickbay to recoup.

Follow up Thread: There will be several ways of acquiring duty officers; some of these we can talk about now, others are still being investigated.
* Certain “Recruitment” assignments (with no doff slotting requirements)
* Rewards for certain accolades
* Possibly a starting batch of common duty officers will be granted to players, probably modified by player level

When will we see them?
“The zone will become available for Devs to use with S4, then content will slowly trickle into it.”

“Postponed. New content for EVERYbody takes higher priority.”

Duty Roster Details Outlined
– Assignments may have requirements (e.g., these two slots on the assignment may only be filled by engineers) and may also have modifiers (e.g., this slot gives you a better chance of success if it is filled by an Andorian or a duty officer with the Trader trait).
– Which assignments are available will change every few hours, and may also be gated by your captain’s rank, what sector you are in, and other achievements.
– Adding Doffs will never give you active abilities to fill up your toolbar. Only passives/procs.

New Info About The Duty Officer System

Boffs can be trained and assigned to positions on your ship.

*Chief Medical Officer
*First Officer
*Chief Engineer
*Etc
*There are separate NEW crew members that are your duty officers
*These guys fill out your ship’s duty roster and give you passives, crafting unlocks, etc
*These can not be bridge officers
*Duty Officers aren’t trainable, can’t level, can’t go on away missions with you, etc.

Here’s how it works:

Bridge Officers are fully featured pets that you can customize, level, and take on away teams.

Duty Officers are predefined crew that occupy an org chart on your ship to perform a specific function (add a bonus). They are not customizable, they do not level up, and cannot go on away team missions with you.

Where some confusion might be coming from is the idea that we want duty officers to perform assignment missions. An example would be – send these 3 guys to go find stuff. an hour later they return with stuff. You did not accompany them, it all happens outside of view in the background. While the three are gone you cannot use them for anything else.

For now, Bridge Officers and Duty Officers do not mix. This may change in the future, but right now they are two completely different types of crew.
