Is the Droid X's eFuse a self-destruct chip? We cover that and give you our hands on early review of the Droid X!

Plus we preview the up coming movies of the weekend, and what the early buzz is on these movies!

COMING ATTRACTIONS:

“Inception”

Official site:  https://inceptionmovie.warnerbros.com/

io9’s predicts a flop:  https://io9.com/5586102/will-inception-be-christopher-nolans-first-big-flop

* Too smart for the average movie-goer

* Trailers don’t tell you what it’s about, just show you fun visuals.

* Leo DiCaprio’s ‘star power’ has faded.

* $200 million budget.

* Might still be the next “Blade Runner” (which flooped, but ultimately won critic appeal and post-theater recognition and adoration.)

A more positive review:  https://www.quietearth.us/articles/2010/07/13/LONGER-THAN-YOU-THINK-DAD-Review-of-INCEPTION

* Bourne meets Cube 2

Here’s a 5-minute preview:

“Sorceror’s Apprentice”

Official site:  https://disney.go.com/disneypictures/sorcerersapprentice/?cmp=dmov_dpic_sor_psg_title_the%20sorcerers%20apprentice

First, a personal story–

              My brother, Scott, who worked as a makeup artist in Hollywood for a couple years, got the opportunity to work with Jay Baruchel and Seth Rogen on a trailer for a project called “Jay & Seth vs. The Apocalypse” ( https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ehNFPShWTsg ).  He said it was originally scripted as a dramatic piece, but the two guys had so much fun hilariously improvising off one another, that it morphed into a dark comedy right there on the set.  The movie hasn’t been made yet.

Start at 1:40 — https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VrOAVpS7ANQ

So… this movie.  It’s a kid’s movie.  Kid finds out he’s The Chosen One with the power to save the world, bad guys attack, he wins the day and gets the girl (is there a girl?  If so, he prolly gets her).  Along the way making several witty one-liner jokes, being awkward and generally screwing up a bunch of stuff.  The End!

It looks fun in the same way that Pirates of the Carribean or The Mummy were fun.  Not very GOOD, but entertaining and enjoyable.

DROID-X REVIEW:

By Chris.  You’re welcome.

* The eFuse chip

* Droid Life post

* Wikipedia Article

PHYSICAL:

* Lighter than expected, lighter than old Droid, but still feels solid. Just right really.

* Very wide, but also thin.. Does not feel nearly as big in the picket as I expected. The thinness over the old Droid helps in the pocket.

* Screen on the Droid X did not seem to have the same level of blacks as the original Droid. The screen was very large, but nice.. Did not blow me away though.

* Touch sensors seems very locked on.

* Physical buttons are… a mixed bag.. Will be much less accidental presses for sure, but I also became used to brushing the button like a gesture to do my bidding. Now I really have to push.. I THINK I like that better though. Also.. Why did they change the button locations? Are these final now? You guys know that’s a brain hard wiring thing right?

CAMERA:

* Camera software VASTLY better than stock Android.

* Comes with built in Pano mode to take 6 picture wide snaps

* Camera came as 3MP by default, but quick settings change to go to 8MP

* Camera.. Was good for a cell phone, video looks good to.

* Camera did not seem as sharp as I would have liked. A lot of digital noise, even in well lit conditions.

* Mic on the video was fantastic.

GOOGLE PAC-MAN:

              * The Human Race spent 547 DAYS playing Google Pac-Man
