Last Thursday we featured some of our favorite predictions from Sci-Fi classics. We asked to hear yours and expected a few good responses. Boy were we terribly, terribly wrong! You sent in a TON of great suggestions!

I remember reading “The Door into Summer” by Heinlein some time in the 1970’s. In that book a man uses “cold sleep” to travel into the future. When he wakes up in a hospital they give him a newspaper on electronic paper, and he had to figure out how to turn the page by tapping in the corner of the screen. Whenever I see a news app on a tablet computer it reminds me of that.

An often forgotten historical scientific discovery by Aristachus. Eratosthenes of Cyrene, even coined the terms Longditude and Latitude, founded the discipline of Geography. He also calculated the circumference of the Earth. If he used the Egyptian Stadia, then his calculations were off my 2%. Though using the common Attic Stadion, it would have been circumference 16.3% larger. Even so it is still a amazing.

What about Dr. Gabor Forgacs a researcher at the University of Missouri. Regenerative medicine, where his research is into printing new organs. Then there are the 3D printers. A basic form of Star Treks replicators. Wonder if this could be the start of true recylcing technology. Break it down into constituant elements, then reuse in the 3D printer. There is also tissue engineering, organ cloning as an alternative into donor organs.
